SANREMO – THE MEDITERRANEAN SPARKLER ON THE ITALIAN CORONET

Situated on the Mediterranean coast in the western part of Liguria in the North Western Italy, Sanremo is one of the most picturesque cities in Europe, drawing tens and thousands of tourists from not only Europe but from all over the world. It is a small city, with more or less 57,000-strong population. However, when it comes to places of tourist interest and natural beauty, there is no dearth of them. In fact, with some of the most fascinating landscapes and scenic beauties, the city is a ‘must go’ tourist destination in the travel and tourism fraternity.   Apart from the beautiful weather and some breathtaking landscapes, the fact that the city is host to a number of sporting and cultural events throughout the year, makes it one of the most ‘happening’ tourist spots of the world today. The most important cultural and sporting events include the Sanremo Music Festival and the Classic Milan-San Remo Cycling Event that attracts thousands of enthusiasts from across the globe every year. Also, it is this city from where the famous five-card stud variant originated.   A predominantly sun-dappled modest and soothing Mediterranean climatic condition prevails all throughout the year, and this gives tourism a shot in its arm. In fact, amongst all others, the city has been mainly attracting the top class British and the Russian tourists since ages, and this makes the city a hub of Russian and British aristocracy.   Sanremo comes up with an array of some of the most flamboyant villas and bungalows that are backed by the lashings of Riviera-styled sumptuousness, which gives the place that aristocratic tinge, which is what every tourist visiting this part of the world expects. Much due to the fantastic foliage that overlooks the pristine Mediterranean water, the city is christened as theCity of Flowers’. The flowers are at their fullest bloom during the summer time, and this is why it is during the summer, when the city sees the influx of maximum number of tourists.   It is also during the summer, when the city hosts the annual San Remo Music Festival and the longest professional one day cycling event of the world – the Milan – San Remo Classic, that stretches over 298 kms.   Getting to the city is pretty easy, with a number of highways converging from various directions into the city. The A10 highway merges with the French A8 highway at the Menton-Ventimiglia border, and forms what is a part of the European E80 route, which is also called the Trans-European Motorway of TEM that extends from as far as Lisbon, the Portuguese Capital to Gürbulak in Turkey on the Iranian border. For people who are travelling by air, the nearest airport the Côte d'Azur International Airport in Nice in France. By car or train, it takes a little over 1 hour to reach Sanremo. The city is also connected by railway with cities likes Genoa, Turin, Rome, Milan Imperia and the likes.   Sanremo is also home to some of the best hotels and restaurants, which are famous for their outstanding hospitality. The city also comes up with some sumptuous Italian and some typical Mediterranean cuisines prepared by some of the best chefs of the world – a reason enough for the foodies to throng the city to for a gala treat of their taste buds, if not for anything else!   Properties for sale in Sanremo >>
